White & Case has made an additional partner promotions round in a bid to rebuild its partnership following a number of high-profile departures in recent weeks.

The US firm has made up five new partners with immediate effect.

The promotions plug the gaps in several areas where the firm has been badly affected by recent departures, with two new partners in Abu Dhabi and three in its global banking practice.

The banking practice has been bolstered with the promotions of Jeremy Duffy in London, Irina Nesvetova in Moscow and Jonathan Weinberg in Prague.

Meanwhile, the Abu Dhabi office gains two new partners with the promotions of M&A associates Zeeshan Ahmedani and Philip Power. The pair join Doug Peel and Saul Daniel, who have taken up residence in the office in the last month, after the base was left without a partner in the wake of the recent departures.

White & Case has lost around 17 partners in recent weeks including 13 to US rival Latham & Watkins across its London, Middle East and New York offices. The Latham departees included four London banking partners.

The promotions come on top of the US firm's annual promotions round in January, which saw 33 new partners made up including six in the City.

Firm chair Hugh Verrier (pictured) commented: "These new partners are among the emerging generation of leaders cultivated within White & Case, reflecting our future as a truly global law firm. Their election to partner underscores our commitment to serving our clients and further strengthening our global banking and Middle East practices."

Last week saw White & Case hired restructuring lawyer Chris Pilkington from Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom as a partner in London.
