CMS Cameron McKenna and SJ Berwin have picked up new clients in their respective corporate and real estate practices.

SJ Berwin has carried out its first mandate for new property client Max Property, advising the company on a recent office investment worth £36.5m.

Real estate partner Rob Thompson headed the UK top 20 firm's team advising on the acquisition of the 10-office portfolio from UBS Triton Property.

The firm won the mandate through links with property magnate Nick Leslau, who founded Max Property last year with Mike Brown to take advantage of the downturn in the UK real estate sector. SJ Berwin has previously advised Leslau's company the Prestbury Group.

Meanwhile, Camerons has advised FTSE 250 real estate company Savills on an acquisition made by one of its subsidiaries, Savills Investments.

The deal, which saw Savills Investments buy the outstanding 40% of property fund management company Cordea Savills that it did not already own, marks the first corporate transaction on which Camerons has advised Savills.

In the past the company has turned to Ashurst for corporate advice, with Camerons previously advising on areas such as real estate and competition.
