Clyde & Co has recruited a partner from Maclay Murray & Spens for its London energy practice, marking the team's tenth hire in the last year.

David Leckie joined Clydes from Maclays' London office last week (12 April). At Maclays his practice focused on commercial dispute resolution, with a particular focus on energy and regulatory law.

Clydes' energy team has doubled in size in the last 12 months, with other recent hires including Michael Wachtel and Philip Mace from Watson Farley & Williams, commercial disputes partner Marko Kraljevic, who joined from Halliwells in July 2009, and CC's Paris environment head Pierre Bechmann, who made the move to Clydes last June.

Clydes partner Victor Rae-Reeves said: "This is a burgeoning sector of activity for us. Our energy clients' needs cross all areas: whether that is advice on M&A, financing, transportation, construction, trading or dispute resolution, and our growing resources across the team mean we have a very strong proposition to offer.

"David's credentials and experience are first class and his reputation in heavyweight health and safety litigation and oil and gas disputes is well-recognised. He is joining us at an exciting period of growth and we are looking forward to working with him to drive the business forward."

Leckie said: "The strength of the Clydes energy team across all aspects of the sector, contentious and non-contentious, transactional and advisory, combined with the broad international network oand clear strategies for expansion in emerging markets such as Africa, makes for a powerful offering to clients."
