Hammonds has promoted eight lawyers to its partnership in its latest promotion round, with none making the grade in the City.

The firm's Manchester office receives the lion's share with three promotions, while elsewhere in the UK, Birmingham and Leeds gain one new partner apiece.

Meanwhile, across Hammonds' international offices, Berlin, Hong Kong and Brussels all receive one new partner.

Broken down by practice, the commercial litigation team gains the most new partners with three, followed by corporate with two, while one is promoted in each of the firm's banking, employment and competition teams.

The promotions take effect as of 1 May 2010.

The total number of promotions is an increase on last year's round when six lawyers were made up, including two in London, although it is a significant drop on 2008 when 19 lawyers were promoted.

Hammonds managing partner Peter Crossley commented: "The promotions across a wide range of business areas and jurisdictions will play a crucial role in Hammonds' future development. I am pleased on behalf of the whole firm that we are able to reward these senior associates with partnership status."
