Field Fisher Waterhouse has made up a record nine lawyers to its partnership in the firm's annual promotions round.

All nine of the promotions come in the UK top 30 firm's City office, with corporate the main beneficiary, receiving three new partners. The firm's employment and technology practices gain two partners apiece, with one each in personal injury and trademarks.

The total number of promotions is more than double the number made up 2009, when just four lawyers made the grade.

Field Fisher managing partner Moira Gilmour (pictured) said: "We have promoted record numbers this year, reflecting strong performances from all of the newly-promoted partners and our commitment to long-term growth."

Earlier this month the firm made a change to its top-level management board following the elections of its departmental heads.

Corporate head Andrew Blankfield has taken a seat on the board as the firm lays out its new three-year strategy – dubbed 'the Virtuous Triangle' – to focus in on three core practice areas – corporate, regulatory, and IP/IT.

Blankfield, who recently replaced Tim Davies as corporate head, will focus on the firm's international strategy in his role on the board. All of the other practice heads were re-elected to the board after their three-year terms came an end.

The remainder of the board includes managing partner Moira Gilmour, IP partner Mark Abell, public and regulatory law head Matthew Lohn, personal injury head Paul McNeil, Brussels managing partner Eric Cusas, real estate head Paul Houston and operations director Douglas Peniston.

Other priorities included in Field Fisher's new strategy plan include recruitment in core areas of the firm and a move to target specific clients while cross-selling across the business.
