Simmons & Simmons has won a place on Standard Chartered's UK panel as the bank completes a review of its advisers.

The UK top 15 law firm is the only new addition to the panel after the bank decided to reappoint all six of its current UK advisers.

The review – the results of which firms were informed today (29 April) – saw the reappointment of Herbert Smith, Denton Wilde Sapte, Norton Rose, DLA Piper, Burges Salmon and Addleshaw Goddard.

The process kicked off in March and took eight weeks to finalise. Standard Chartered declined to confirm how many firms had pitched.

The appointments are for two years but it is understood that Simmons and Standard Chartered will review the relationship after one year to establish that it is mutually beneficial.

Norton Rose was the most recent addition to the UK panel when it was last reviewed in March 2008, a process that saw previous advisers SJ Berwin and Bird & Bird lose their panel places.

The UK panel stands alongside the bank's global roster, which was last reviewed in July last year without changes to the line-up. Standard Chartered's global advisers are Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Linklaters, Slaughter and May, Lovells and Baker & McKenzie.

Following the 1 May merger of Lovells with US firm Hogan & Hartson, the combined Hogan Lovells will retain its role.
