Clifford Chance (CC) has announced its annual promotions round with the City giant making up 22 new partners from 1 May.
Five are based in the firm's London office, while one splits their time between Moscow and London. Europe sees the majority of the promotions, with new partners in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Duesseldorf, Brussels, Moscow and Warsaw.
Four new partners have also been made up in Asia, one in Dubai and three in New York.
Most of the appointments come in litigation, corporate and finance, which each receive six. Two have been made up in capital markets with one each in real estate and tax.
CC managing partner David Childs (pictured) commented: "It is always a pleasure to welcome the next generation of talent into the partnership. These new partners all enjoy strong client relationships and have a deep understanding of the markets, sectors and regulatory issues that are so important to global businesses today."
The appointments mark a modest increase on last year's round, when CC appointed 17 new partners, but remain well down on 2008, when the firm made up 35.
The promotions see CC returning to its normal appointment schedule after last year pushing promotions back to 1 August due to its global partnership restructuring, which saw the firm cut down its global partnership by around 15%.
The news comes after magic circle rivals Allen & Overy (A&O) and Linklaters announced their partner promotions in recent weeks. A&O made up just two new partners in London out of a global round of 18, while at Linklaters, more than half of the new partners – eight of 14 – were City lawyers.
