Denton Wilde Sapte energy chief Christopher McGee-Osborne is set to stand down from his role, with the firm yet to appoint a new sector head.

McGee-Osborne, who has led the energy, transport and infrastructure strategy team for seven years, notified the board last month that he wanted to stand down from the role in order to focus on developing the firm's specialist nuclear practice.

Dentons does not hold elections to appoint sector heads but the board will appoint a successor in the role after sounding out the firm's partnership.

McGee-Osborne will continue in his roles as head of the firm's nuclear practice and co-head of the rail practice. Separately, City partner Ian Hodgson continues to head the firm's energy, infrastructure and project finance department.

McGee-Osborne's practice covers commercial contracts and privatisations in the nuclear, electricity, rail, defence, oil and gas and water and sewerage industries.

Dentons is currently in the process of growing its nuclear capacities and in March added nuclear specialist partner duo Rupert Cowen and Jonathan Leech to its London office. The pair joined the City law firm from Hammonds, where they were partners.

Dentons has one of the City's largest practices in the energy sector, with a total of 18 partners following the recent hires. Clients of the group include the UK Ministry of Defence, which the firm advises on its nuclear-related work.

In the firm's recent promotion rounds, just two partners were made up, both of whom sit in the energy practice.
