Harbour Litigation Funding has raised a fund of £60m to invest in UK commercial litigation cases.

The fund – which has been raised from investors including family offices, private wealth managers and high-net worth individuals – will go towards a minimum of 25 cases with a claim value of at least £3m.

Harbour, one of the UK's leading third-party litigation funders, said that it expects the fund to last for up to five years.

Harbour was formed in 2007 by head of litigation funding Susan Dunn and chief executive Brett Carron, a former lawyer at Shearman & Sterling.

Carron commented: "Having set out to raise £50m, we were very encouraged by the level of investor interest and support, and are delighted with the result. We think this investor support reflects the strength of our investment team and our position as the most experienced litigation funders in the UK."

Former Travers Smith litigation head John Kingston is set to join Harbour in June after joining the UK top 50 firm from Withers in June last year.

In January, the funder brought in former High Court judge Gavin Lightman as the chairman of its investment committee.
