Eversheds' employment group has scored two client wins, Superdrug and Bradford & Bingley.

The team, headed by Nottingham-based employment partner Mark Fletcher, has this month been appointed to advise both clients on all employment matters, following a competitive tender.

Eversheds will advise high-street healthcare chains Superdrug and Savers, both part of the AS Watson Group, on contentious and non-contentious employment matters. Other firms to have pitched for the work include Hammonds and Wragge & Co.

Combined, the health and beauty chains have more than 1,100 stores across the UK.

In addition, the team has been instructed to advise Bradford & Bingley to undertake its entire employment remit. This will include providing strategic and TUPE advice, ahead of its planned merger with Northern Rock. It is understood that the top 10 UK law firm won the mandate after bidding for the work against firms including DLA Piper and Cobbetts.

The two appointments will be seen as significant additions to the employment team's client portfolio, which already includes Royal Mail and Santander.

Fletcher, who re-joined Eversheds in 2006 as a partner after spending two years as in-house counsel at credit card company Capital One, commented: "Our employment team is doing really well at the moment and we are delighted with both appointments."

He added: "We have a good deal of experience in the retail sector and the relationship with Superdrug will be hugely important to us. Bradford & Bingley faces some interesting challenges over the coming period and we're very pleased to be on board. Our resource is well placed to support on a full range of employment issues."
