Garrigues' former managing partner is set to launch an executive Master of Business Administration (MBA) to train lawyers and other professionals on leading advisory businesses.
Miguel Gordillo (pictured), who stepped down from his role as managing partner at the Spanish giant in September 2009, will launch the programme in October this year alongside former chief executive of Deloitte in Europe Alberto Terol.
The MBA will run between October and June with the aim of helping professionals achieve the skills required to become managers at professional services firms. Among other topics it will cover firm strategy and organisation; financial management; talent and human resources management; and legal and tax management.
Gordillo said: "Experience has taught us that organisation offers a real competitive edge. An effectively organised firm tends to outshine its competitors, as it can more efficiently and better concentrate its professionals in the market and the achievement of its overriding goals."
The MBA will be run by Garrigues' education arm, Centro de Estudios Garrigues, which is a teaching institution affiliated with the firm and provides training, education and research on areas including law, finance and human resources.
Other names on the advisory board include Santiago Aguirre, current president and founding partner of Spanish and Portuguese consulting firm Aguirre Newman; Santiago Barrenechea, a partner at Landwell-PwC; Vicente Moreno, chief executive of Accenture; and John de Zulueta, Spanish managing director of the Spanish hospital company USP.
