Deputy High Court judge Bernard Livesey QC has moved to Hailsham Chambers after 18 years at Four New Square (4NS).

Livesey, who specialises in professional liability work and construction litigation, cited professional differences as the reason for his move.

He said: "Unfortunately there came a time when I did not see eye to eye with 4NS on a matter of principle and decided it would be best to continue my practice from another set of high standing."

Livesey has been a Deputy High Court Judge since 1998 and has appeared before professional disciplinary tribunals and tribunals of inquiry.

Commenting on the move, Hailsham head of chambers Martin Spencer QC said: "I am delighted to invite such an eminent, highly regarded practitioner to become a tenant. Bernard's reputation as a leading practitioner is indisputable and his particular areas of specialism will enhance the breadth of expertise available from Hailsham."

The move comes after two Hailsham barristers took silk in the 2010 QC appointments round, with professional negligence specialists William Flenley and Julian Picton claiming the elite kitemark.
