Eversheds has signed a deal which could eventually see all of the firm's lawyers using Apple iPads.

The UK top 10 firm has entered into a two-month pilot scheme dubbed 'Eversheds Anywhere' which has seen 50 lawyers and staff issued with an iPad. If the pilot is successful the scheme could be rolled out across the firm.

The project has been launched in collaboration with IT partners Computacenter and Citrix which are funding the project alongside Eversheds.

The iPad will be used in addition to existing BlackBerrys and will enable lawyers to access data they need at any time and location, while also allowing lawyers to review documents, host virtual meetings, arrange schedules and access mail and business intelligence.

Eversheds chief information officer Paul Caris said: "The iPad is an incredibly intuitive device which will be popular with our lawyers. We expect to deliver key applications to lawyers including email, document management and client relationship management systems whenever and wherever they need to. We have already made an investment in the Citrix platform so we will be able to deliver our applications on to mobile devices very quickly."

He added: "We are an innovative law firm and our lawyers are constantly on the move around the world. We want to provide clients with a quality and progressive service and our people with the most flexible working environment and believe that the new iPads and this groundbreaking collaboration will allow us to do that."
