Dorsey & Whitney has expanded its private equity practice with the hire of Brown Rudnick private equity partner Roger Gregory, who is set to join the firm's London office at the end of August.

Gregory's practice focuses on venture capital and private equity in the mid-market sector. He represents institutional investors, management teams and buyout houses.

At Brown Rudnick, Gregory was a part of the cleantech team. He also worked with the bankruptcy and corporate restructuring group on corporate aspects of insolvency, restructuring and distressed situations and transactions. Before joining Brown Rudnick in 2008, Gregory led the private equity team at Nabarro.

Dorsey co-head of London Barry Glazer commented: "We have followed a pattern of expansion in corporate and litigation, which are the core strength areas of the firm's London office. Gregory's practice complements our existing capabilities in corporate, and adds depth particularly in the mid-market space. Dorsey will be a good platform for Gregory because of its strong presence in M&A in the US and Canada."

London head of corporate Mark Taylor added: "Gregory is highly regarded by his peers and well-liked by clients. He is well connected in the venture capital and private equity space, and will broaden and deepen our relationships in this important area."

Dorsey's London arm also last month hired Latham & Watkins partner Chris McFadzean, who also joined the firm's corporate practice.
