Herbert Smith, Dorsey & Whitney and Olswang have taken lead roles on Warner Brothers' £100m acquisition of British TV production group Shed Media.

Warner Brothers, which was advised by Herbert Smith, will take a majority share in Shed Media following the completion of the deal, which is expected to be confirmed by October.

The UK top 10 City firm fielded a team led by London corporate partners Alex Kay and Gareth Roberts.

Shed Media, whose subsidiary companies produce successful TV shows including Supernanny (pictured) and Who Do You Think You Are?, was advised by Dorsey & Whitney.

The US firm's team was led by London corporate head Mark Taylor, who worked alongside fellow City corporate partners Kate Francis and Fran Doherty.

Doherty commented: "This deal was particularly interesting, not only because of its complexity and our longstanding relationship with Shed, but also because it demonstrates the firm's capabilities within the mid-market."

The sale ends months of uncertainty about the future of the production company which was founded in 1998. Under the arrangement, Warner Brothers will own 55.75% of the company, while the Shed Media management team will take 21.37% and other employees 22.88%.

Olswang acted for Shed Media's management team, with corporate partner Stephen Hermer taking the key role.
