Boodle Hatfield has strengthened its corporate practice with the hire of Nabarro partner Richard Beavan.

Beavan, who will join the West End firm tomorrow (1 September), focuses on fundraisings, takeovers, acquisitions and disposals, venture capital, restructuring and corporate governance.

Commenting on the hire, Boodle managing partner Richard Maughan said: "There is strength and depth to our private client offering, but we are aiming to expand our corporate capabilities in order to better serve our client base. Richard's skills will complement those of our other corporate lawyers and will further expand the range of services that we offer."

The 32-partner firm, which focuses on property, private client and tax, corporate, family, litigation and employment, recently made up senior associate Elizabeth Middleton to partner in the corporate tax practice, with the promotion taking effect as of 1 May.

Maughan added: "The recent hire and partner promotion are part of a coordinated effort to improve the services we offer to our existing client base."

The departure of Beavan comes after Nabarro financial services regulation head Rob Moulton quit the firm to join Ashurst's City arm earlier this month.
