McFaddens partner Ray-Smith joins to tackle a range of civil litigation and dispute resolution cases

Field Fisher Waterhouse has strengthened its litigation practice with the hire of litigation partner Jonathan Ray-Smith, who joined the firm last week (13 September) from City boutique McFaddens.

Ray-Smith, who has over 10 years' experience as a litigation partner, acts for both corporate and private clients on a diverse range of civil litigation and dispute resolution cases.

Head of dispute resolution Peter Stewart said: "The dispute resolution team is working on an increasing number of significant, high-value cases, including those involving international clients in regions such as the Middle East and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Jonathan's focus on the Middle East, CIS and Japan will be a major asset to the practice as we continue to attract overseas instructions."

Ray-Smith advises on employment-related contractual disputes, particularly concerning the termination of company executives' contracts, and has acted for clients on Financial Services Authority investigations and enforcement cases for insider dealing and market abuse.

Field Fisher has made a number of partner hires in recent months, including Denton Wilde Sapte technology partner John Worthy, who joined the firm in July.

In May, media partner Barry Smith joined from Reed Smith, while in March Simeon Spencer was brought in from employment specialists Seyfarth Shaw in New York.
