German independent Noerr is set to grow its Frankfurt arm with the hire of Hogan Lovells German head of banking Olaf Grabowski.

Grabowski will join Noerr's corporate finance practice next month after seven years as a partner at legacy Lovells, now Hogan Lovells, Frankfurt. He has been head of the banking group since 2007.

Grabowski specialises in real estate and acquisition finance with particular experience in transactions in Central and Eastern Europe.

Noerr's corporate finance group now has 13 lawyers including five partners in the practice.

Grabowski said: "I was attracted by the partnership structure of Noerr and its commitment to further growth in the Frankfurt banking market.

"The firm is a strong national franchise focusing on restructuring and finance transactions, which fits in well with my practice. The firm also has a prominent Eastern European network, which complements my client base."

Earlier this year legacy Hogan & Hartson's Berlin office split into two, with 18 partners breaking away to set up their own firm rather than join the merged Hogan Lovells. The split left Hogan Lovells with more than 350 lawyers practising in five cities in Germany – Berlin, Duesseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg and Munich.

Noerr is set to launch an office in London on 1 October this year marking its 14th office worldwide.
