Addleshaw Goddard chairman Monica Burch has been added to the line up of Channel 4′s new non-executive directors.

The appointment, announced today (29 September) was made by Ofcom following an advertising campaign in the national papers. The role will start on 1 October for an initial three year term.

Burch was appointed alongside three other non-executive directors: Alicja Lesniak, currently non-executive director of real estate advisory group DTZ; managing director of Waitrose Mark Price; and non-executive director of Mothercare, Richard Rivers.

Three existing non-executive board members, including deputy chairman of Channel 4 Lord Puttnam, are also seeing their term extended by a further one year period.

Litigation partner Burch became chairman of Addleshaw Goddard on 1 May 2010. It was a newly-created role following an overhaul of the firm's management structure that saw Burch take over from senior partner Paul Lee.

Burch, who joined legacy firm Theodore Goddard as a trainee in 1988, and became a partner in 1999, is responsible for governance aspects and client development within the firm.

Channel 4 has turned to a number of law firms for advice in the past including Reed Smith and Olswang.
