Norton Rose has recruited a Pinsent Masons Hong Kong partner to its Brisbane office in the eighth lateral hire for the firm's Australian arm since its launch earlier this year.

Peter Borg will begin work next month in the construction and engineering practice from his role as partner in Pinsents' projects and international construction division.

Borg previously worked at Australian firms Freehills and Mallesons Stephen Jaques before joining Mayer Brown JSM in Hong Kong in 2002 and moving to Pinsents in 2004.
His client portfolio includes Acciona, China State, Wind Prospect, Cathay Pacific and Transfield Obayashi.

Norton Rose Australia commercial, real estate and disputes practice head Wayne Spanner said: "Construction and engineering is one of the areas that we are looking to build as a firm globally as well as specifically in Australia.

"We have seen significant growth in work in the construction market, following through into infrastructure generally. Bringing in people of Peter's calibre helps ensure the team remains strong."
