Clifford Chance (CC) has elected a new managing partner for its Brussels office, as current incumbent Yves Herinckx prepares to step down after 14 years in the role.
Herinckx will be replaced by Brussels head of EU and competition Tony Reeves in November, with Reeves set to remain as head of the practice group alongside his new role.
Herinckx will continue as head of finance in Belgium, a post he has held simultaneously with his role as Brussels chief.
Reeves (pictured) joined CC in 1993 and relocated to Brussels in 1995. He has been a partner at the firm since 2003 and has been appointed to his new role for a four-year term.
He said: "I am honoured and excited about the new role. Yves has done a terrific job as managing partner and over the past 15 years we have grown from about a dozen to 50 fifty lawyers and ensured that we are one of the leading Brussels players.
"Unlike many of our competitors we have grown largely organically and we are confident about the future."
Reeves specialises in advising companies on competition, trade and EC law, in particular in EC and multi-jurisdictional merger notifications, abuse of market power, cartels and distribution and licensing practices.
CC managing partner David Childs said: "Our Brussels office plays an important role in our network, combining well-respected Belgian law capabilities and market-leading advice on EU matters."
The appointment comes after CC's election of a new global real estate head, with Spanish practice chief Alfonso Benavides taking on the firmwide remit as of 1 September.
The magic circle firm also recently launched the process to replace senior partner Stuart Popham as his second and final term in the role draws to a close.
