Brick Court Chambers silk Conor Quigley QC has made the unusual move of leaving the set for a move to commercial chambers Serle Court.

EU law specialist Quigley, who took silk in 2003, joined Serle Court on 1 October.

Commenting on his move, Quigley said: "I believe that my interests, which cover a broad range of EU-related commercial matters, are perfectly suited to Serle Court's areas of practice. The international nature of much of my work makes Serle Court an ideal choice."

Brick Court joint senior clerk Ian Moyler commented: "Although it is very sad indeed to see Conor go, we wish him all the best for his new role at Serle Court. He felt as though his interests would be better served there."

He added: "A move like this is unusual, but it has become more common of late as the market becomes more fluid."

Notable recent cases that Quigley has acted on include Louca v A German Judicial Authority, one of the first judgments to be delivered by the new UK Supreme Court.

Ealier this year Serle Court barrister James Corbett QC left the set to join Kobre & Kim, gifting the US law firm its first English law capability in London.
