Top names ready to battle for honours at 2010 British Legal Awards
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Hogan Lovells and Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) are among the firms shortlisted for a number of categories in the 2010 British Legal Awards. The group has been nominated for the much sought after Law Firm of the Year award alongside Clyde & Co, Sullivan & Cromwell and Travers Smith.

Freshfields, Hogan Lovells and BLP among the shortlisted firms
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Hogan Lovells and Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) are among the firms shortlisted for a number of categories in the 2010 British Legal Awards.
The group has been nominated for the much sought after Law Firm of the Year award alongside Clyde & Co, Sullivan & Cromwell and Travers Smith.
The trio have also made the shortlist for several other awards, with Freshfields nominated for the Banking, Finance or Restructuring Team of the Year award and both Hogan Lovells and BLP shortlisted for Litigation and Regulatory Team of the Year.
Norton Rose has once again been nominated for M&A Team of the Year award along with Herbert Smith, White & Case, Dewey & LeBoeuf, Travers Smith and Weil Gotshal & Manges.
Meanwhile, Westfield's Leon Shelley and Roger Wiltshire from BAE Systems have both made the shortlist for General Counsel of the Year.
BAE has also been nominated for Legal Department of the Year alongside MTV Networks International, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Man Group, Legal & General Investment Management and Teva.
This year sees a new award for the Education and Training Initiative of the Year with one of TLT, Linklaters, Hogan Lovells, Nabarro, Shoosmiths and Simmons & Simmons all in contention.
The line-up for Regional Firm of the Year includes HBJ Gateley Wareing, Birketts, Boyes Turner, Flint Bishop, Loch Associates Employment Lawyers and McGrigors.
The City of London Lifetime Achievement Award and the Managing/Senior Partner of the Year will both be announced on the night at Old Billingsgate Market in London on 2 December. The winners will be chosen by an independent panel of senior lawyers chaired by former City of London Law Society president Bill Knight.
