Salans has re-elected Dariusz Oleszczuk as global managing partner for his third consecutive term in the role.

Oleszczuk (pictured), who was voted in yesterday (27 October) after a contested election, has held the role since 2004 and has been a partner at Salans for almost 20 years.

His strategy for his next three-year term includes a focus on emerging markets, in particular in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).

He said: "Clearly it is important for the firm to grow its revenues and ensure it is in a strong financial position in the market, so we will continue to focus our energies on this, as well as consolidating our position in the markets we are already open in and looking to new jurisdictions.

"A number of firms are pulling out of countries at the moment and we will be looking to take advantage of this where we see opportunities. Germany, France and the CEE are primary focuses right now."

Oleszczuk's re-election comes after Salans recruited a team of real estate partners from Clifford Chance in Warsaw this summer, including the magic circle firm's local practice chief Pawel Debowski.

Salans has also this year held discussions with alliance partner Pinsent Masons over how the two firms can work more closely together, including cost-sharing initiatives and the possibility of the year-old alliance becoming exclusive.
