US firm King & Spalding has announced its global partner promotions round with the firm's London's office gaining one new partner out of a firmwide tally of eight.
US-qualified John Taylor has been promoted from counsel to partner in London. He focuses on US and international taxation, the taxation of financial products, funds, partnerships and M&A.
Three of the eight promotions announced yesterday (4 November), come in the firm's headquarters in Atlanta, where healthcare partner Thomas Hawk, litigation partner Bradley Pratt and private equity partner Jaron Brown will all be based.
The remaining promotions are split between Houston, Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Riyadh. Both restructuring partner Edward Ripley and litigation partner Alissa Rubin will be based in Houston, while projects partners Tim Burbury and Leroy Levy will be based in Abu Dhabi and Dubai respectively. Levy will alternate between the firm's Dubai and Riyadh offices.
The news comes just one day after King & Spalding announced the hire of Norton Rose capital markets lawyer Rizwan Kanji as a partner in its Dubai office, marking further investment in its Middle East platform. Kanji will have a leading role in King & Spalding's debt capital markets and sukuk practice.
Commenting on the hire, Middle East and Islamic finance head Isam Salah said: "The Middle East is a key element of our firm's strategy for international growth, and we expect to see continued growth in sukuk offerings in the region and in other capital markets.
"Rizwan's recognised expertise in debt capital markets work complements our award-winning reputation for property investments, private equity deals and fund formations throughout the region."
