Offshore firm Ogier has made up eight new partners in its annual promotions round.

Six of the promotions have been handed to lawyers with the remaining two in the fiduciary arm of the firm.

Angus Davison and Andrew Morehouse join the partnership in the investment funds practice in the Cayman Islands, while Fran Watson has been made up in investment funds in Guernsey.

Tim Bridges and Nathan Powell have been made up in Hong Kong in the corporate and commercial practice, with Bridges also active in the finance group. In Jersey, Nigel Sanders is set to join the litigation partnership.

Chief executive Nick Kershaw (pictured) said: "Our promotions this year reflect an upturn in the market and the growth that we have seen, particularly in our Hong Kong and Cayman offices.

"We have seen a steady pick-up across a number of our practice areas and we feel we are in a much more positive position than we were this time last year, and our clients seem to be more optimistic."

Meanwhile, Tania Bearryman and Simon Mackenzie have joined the partnership in Ogier's fiduciary arm. Bearryman is director of the employee benefits practice while Mackenzie is director of the firm's fiduciary services and corporate services.

The promotions are effective from 1 February 2011 and mark an increase on the five partners the firm made up last year.
