Nabarro, Herbert Smith and Eversheds act on NW London scheme

A raft of firms including Nabarro, Herbert Smith and Eversheds have gained lead roles on the planned £4.5bn Brent Cross Cricklewood regeneration scheme, which was signed off by Barnet Council late last month (28 October).

Nabarro advised BXC Development Partners – Hammerson and Standard Life Investments – in relation to the planning application for the new town centre, which is expected to bring 27,000 jobs and 7,500 homes.

Nabarro fielded a team led by head of planning Martin Evans (pictured), who worked alongside property partner Kevin Stimpson on real estate issues relating to the development, which is expected to include around £1bn of community and infrastructure investment for Northwest London.

Herbert Smith also advised Standard Life on the deal, with property partners Patrick Robinson and Shelagh McKibbin leading.

Evans said: "This project has been going on for a number of years and it is extremely rewarding to see it finally come to fruition. This is a site that – when redeveloped – will become an important strategic centre for London and bring significant benefits to the local area."

The regeneration scheme has also brought a role for SNR Denton, where head of development Andrew Bedford advised Cricklewood Regeneration, an acquisition vehicle wholly owned by Hammerson.

Meanwhile, Eversheds real estate partner Jeremy Brooks advised the London Borough of Barnet, which approved the construction plans. The council was also advised by Paul Winter & Co.

Berwin Leighton Paisner planning partner Vicky Fowler advised Transport for London, which has been involved in negotiating transport and waste infrastructure for the scheme, including new bus and train stations.

Barnet Council's approval means the scheme will now go into development, with those involved estimating it will take two decades to complete.
