Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has added to its partnership with a promotion in its City financial services regulatory team.

Chris Brennan has been made up to partner as of 1 November after four years at the firm.

Prior to joining in 2006 he worked for the enforcement division of the Financial Services Authority (FSA) and as general counsel for multi-asset brokerage group Newedge.

His promotion takes the total number of partners at the firm to 102.

Brennan (pictured) said: "Barlows has a large number of financial services clients. These clients are often attracted by its pre-eminent litigation practices, but the increasing importance of financial regulation has led to a greater demand for regulatory advice.

"This platform offers me an excellent opportunity to continue building on our reputation and expertise in this area."

Barlows senior partner Simon Konsta said: "Chris has been instrumental in achieving some excellent results for our financial services clients since he joined from the FSA. His promotion to partner demonstrates our commitment to that sector, and our wider dispute resolution offering."

The firm has also recently added associate Josie Marwick to the team, who joined this autumn from the FSA's enforcement division.

Barlows merged its commercial litigation and arbitration practice with its professional and financial disputes group earlier this month, with the new group now led by partners Sarah Clover and Neil Jamieson.
