Barlow Lyde & Gilbert commercial and technology partner Andrew Giverin is set to leave the firm to launch a new boutique.

The new practice, which will focus on commercial, technology and outsourcing advice, is due to launch early next year. Giverin, who is based in Barlows' London office, will be joined at the new boutique by partners from several other firms, with exact details as yet unconfirmed.

Giverin (pictured) joined Barlows as a partner in 2007 after four years at US firm Latham & Watkins, where he was a senior associate.

He said: "Barlows is a great firm with a strong, clear vision about where it is going. I really enjoyed my four years there, but I have always wanted to do something entrepreneurial and set up on my own.

"I believe the market is now well placed to welcome a new entrant focused on experience and value, and I'm looking forward to working with my clients to develop a dedicated commercial, technology and outsourcing practice."

Barlows chief executive officer David Jabbari, said: "Andy devoted a huge amount of energy and dedication to developing the technology and outsourcing practice at Barlows, and we thank him for his valuable contribution to the firm. He leaves on the best of terms, and we look forward to continuing to work with him in the future."

News of Giverin's departure comes after three partners from Barlows' corporate and commercial group were asked to leave this month as part of an effort to align the firm more closely with its core sectors, including insurance and energy.
