Gide Loyrette Nouel has added to its partnership with the promotion of the French firm's Vietnam office head.

Samantha Campbell (pictured), who joined Gide in 2009 from Sullivan & Cromwell, has been made up to partner in the corporate and finance practice.

Her appointment comes alongside the hire of two senior associates - Pham Bach Duong, the former head of legal for Standard Chartered Bank in Vietnam and the Mekong region, and Ha Dang Quang, who joins from Asian outfit Russin & Vecchi.

Duong will join the banking and finance practice, while Quang will work in real estate. They joined the firm's Ho Chi Minh City office last month.

Campbell said: "The recruitment of Duong and Quang demonstrates Gide's ongoing commitment, which began in the late 1980s, to Vietnam and the surrounding region.

"Both are joining us at a time where we have been experiencing a clear increased demand for specialised banking and finance and real estate advice in Vietnam, and their capabilities and experience will be welcomed by both the team and our clients."

The firm has offices in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The hires take the total number of lawyers in the region to 18.

Gide announced the closure of five of its international offices in October this year following a review of its global operations.

The firm decided to close its Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Riyadh offices with immediate effect, while its Prague arm will be shut down by the end of the year and its Belgrade office will gradually be restructured over the next 12 months.
