Eversheds is set to see a team of lawyers led by local co-head Sam Jalaei leave the firm's Copenhagen office.

Jalaei will join Danish firm Lett in January 2011 as a partner in its corporate and commercial team, bringing with him two trainees and one support staff member.

The news comes just months after Jalaei was named as co-head of Eversheds' Copenhagen arm following the resignation of former office chief Troels Askerud.

Jalaei was appointed to lead the office alongside Nikolaj Juhl Hansen in October this year, with Hansen and Jalaei also sharing the role of corporate head in the wake of Askerud's departure.

In a statement, Eversheds said: "We can confirm that Sam Jalaei has decided to leave Eversheds. Although this is a minor setback, plans are already in train to replace this resource. We and the local team remain committed the future development of Copenhagen and some significant hires have recently been secured, details of which will be released in due course."

Eversheds made 12 redundancies in its Copenhagen office alongside the appointment of Jalaei and Hansen in October this year. According to the firm, around half of those affected by the redundancies were lawyers, with the other half serving in support functions.

Commenting on Jalaei's hire, Lett chairman Flemming Kragh Hansen said: "We are delighted that Sam and his team will be joining us. His extensive experience in cross-border M&A will further enhance Lett's international M&A profile and our strong position in the legal market.

"We are one of the fastest growing law firms in the Danish market having expanded by 100% in the past four years."

Lett currently has 165 lawyers working across three offices in Denmark.
