Gide Loyrette Nouel has announced its annual promotions with two lawyers made up to the partnership.

The two promotions come in the firm's Paris and Moscow offices and mark a decrease on the four new partners the French firm made up in 2010.

In Paris, Guillaume Jolly has joined the partnership in the tax practice. He specialises in the tax aspects of M&A, private equity, real estate transactions and management packages and has been with the firm since 2001.

Meanwhile, Grigory Marinichev has been promoted in the Moscow banking and finance practice, which he also heads. He joined Gide in 2004.

Gide managing partner Christophe Eck (pictured) said: "The promotions this year reflect the firm's dedication to our Moscow office, which we have been building over the past few months, and are continuing to invest in.

"The slight decrease in promotions this year is simply down to fewer people in the running for partnership than last year. The market is looking better for 2011 than 2010 and following some changes to our international network last year we feel we are well placed to take advantage of this."

The new roles came into effect on 1 January and follow the promotion of the firm's Vietnam head Samantha Campbell to partner last month.

Gide announced the closure of five of its international offices in October 2010 following a review of its global operations.

The firm's offices in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and Prague were shut down last year, while its Belgrade office will gradually be restructured over the next year and is understood to be eventually merging with the firm's operations in Budapest.
