Sidley Austin has announced the details of its latest global partnership promotions, with four appointments in the US firm's 120-lawyer London office.

The City promotions, which came into effect on 1 January, comprise finance lawyer John McGrath, restructuring specialist Phillip Taylor, employment lawyer Nicholas Turner, as well as barrister and competition counsel David Went.

The four promotions come as a part of a 28-strong global promotions round, which has gifted a total of 13 new partners to Sidley Austin's Chicago office, where the firm is headquartered.

The remaining eleven promotions come in the firm's other offices in the US. Its New York and Los Angeles bases have received six and two new partners respectively, while one has been made up in both Washington and San Francisco.

The news comes shortly after three other US firms announced their global partnership appointments.

K&L Gates made up 44 new partners, with just one in London, while Bingham McCutchen promoted 13 in the US and Dewey & LeBoeuf made up eleven, included one City salaried partner promotion and one London equity promotion.
