Olswang has bolstered its insolvency and restructuring group with the hire of Julian Turner from Reed Smith.

Turner joined the UK top 50 firm's London office this month as a partner in the finance group and will work closely with Olswang's head of restructuring and insolvency Alicia Videon.

He joins from Reed Smith where he was a partner in the commercial restructuring and insolvency group. He spent three years in the Reed Smith's Abu Dhabi office developing the firm's Middle East finance capability.

Turner has acted on a number of cross-border instructions across a number of sectors including financial services, insurance, real estate, media, leisure and transport.

Videon said: "Julian is an accomplished practitioner who brings a wealth of expertise to our team. Having advised across a broad range of sectors both nationally and internationally, we are certain that his skill set will be invaluable as our restructuring and insolvency practice continues to enjoy rapid growth. We are delighted to welcome someone of his calibre to the firm."

The firm's restructuring and insolvency group has been increasingly advising a lender client base as well as its traditional borrower practice. Clients include Lloyds Banking Group, Nationwide Building Society, ITV, the BBC, BAE Systems, F&C FEIT Asset Management and Legal & General Group. The team also advises the Resolution Committee of Kaupthing Bank on the work of its derivatives portfolio.
