Hogan Lovells has announced its first partner promotions round as a merged firm, with the firm's London office gaining seven new partners out of a global round of 36.

The London haul is slightly higher than legacy Lovells' last promotion round in 2010, when the firm made up five City lawyers to partner as a part of a 21-strong global promotions round.

Thirteen of the new partners this year are in continental Europe, spread across Alicante, Berlin, Duesseldorf, Hamburg, Madrid, Milan, Moscow, Paris, Rome and Warsaw. Moscow gains three new partners, Paris gains two, with the remainder each gaining one new partner apiece.

The firm's US offices, meanwhile, gain 12 new partners across Denver, New York, North Virginia and Washington. The remaining four partners will join the firm in Asia, with Singapore receiving two new partners and Shanghai and Beijing one each.

The promotions are spread across Hogan Lovells' five main practice groups, with 11 new partners in both the global corporate and litigation practices, five in both finance and government regulatory, with the remaining four in global intellectual property.

All of the promotions take effect as of 1 March, taking Hogan Lovells to more than 800 partners worldwide. Separately, the firm has also promoted 31 of counsels firmwide, including six in the firm's London office.

Hogan Lovells co-chief executive David Harris said: "These are the first promotions we have made since Hogan Lovells came in to being on 1 May 2010. The appointments acknowledge the hard work of each individual, but are also testament to the depth and quality of Hogan Lovells and our commitment to investing in our associates and counsel."
