Herbert Smith has relocated London dispute resolution partner Robert Hunt to Hong Kong in response to growing activity in the region.

Hunt moved to Hong Kong at the end of last month, with the relocation making him the sixth partner in the office's disputes practice. He takes the total number of partners in the firm's Hong Kong arm to 17.

Hunt's relocation is his second to Asia following secondments to Herbert Smith's Singapore office and associated Indonesian firm, Hiswara Bunjamin & Tandjung, between 2005 and 2007.

Herbert Smith global head of dispute resolution Sonya Leydecker said: "Asia has been and continues to be extremely busy for our disputes group and relocating Rob will both ensure the team has the extra support that it needs to foster workflows and will allow him to develop his experience in another jurisdiction.

"We are looking to grow the practice further in mainland China over the coming months in response to the increased activity we have been experiencing, particularly in Beijing and Shanghai."

Hunt has been a partner at Herbert Smith since 2009. He specialises in contractual disputes, misrepresentation claims, claims for breach of confidence and competition litigation.

The news follows the relocation of City finance partner Adrian Cheng to the firm's Singapore office in October last year, in a move to build its banking and finance practice in the region.
