White & Case has posted its London financial results for 2010, with the US firm's City revenues falling 6.5% over the year.

The firm's London base saw turnover fall from $197m (£123m) in 2010 to $184m (£115m), while revenue per lawyer (RPL) grew by 5% to $814,000 (£509,000), up from $778,000 (£486,000) the previous year.

The firm said in a statement: "The [revenue] reduction is 6.5% in dollar terms but 3% in local currency terms, taking into account foreign currency movements and the heavy mix of non-dollar revenue."

White & Case declined to disclose London profits per equity partner (PEP) for 2010, although across the firm as a whole, PEP fell by 2.4% from $1.59m (£994,000) to $1.56m (£975,000) during the year.

City executive partner Oliver Brettle (pictured) said: "Given the bumpy economic situation during 2010, we believe that a 5% revenue swing in either direction for any law firm, especially for a global law firm with an extensive finance and corporate practice, would be an acceptable result.

"The London focus in 2010 was on continuing to improve the utilisation of our lawyers and investing in core practice areas for our clients. I'm pleased on both counts, with a near 5% increase in our RPL for London and the substantial build-out of our partner and associate base, both through internal promotions and major new hires."

In 2009, White & Case's City PEP fell 11% to $1.32m (£825,000), while London revenues fell by around 20%. Last month the firm announced its global results for 2010, posting a 2% fall in firmwide revenues to $1.28bn (£800m).
