Standard Chartered Bank has concluded a review of its international legal panel, with the bank reappointing all six of its current advisers for another two-year term.

Magic circle firms Allen & Overy, Clifford Chance, Linklaters and Slaughter and May are among the firms to have been reappointed. The other firms on the roster are Hogan Lovells and Baker & McKenzie.

The review, spearheaded by London-based group head of legal James Ellington, kicked off at the end of last year, with law firms submitting their tender documents in January.

The bank additionally runs a UK panel, which is also reviewed every two years. Last year, Simmons & Simmons made its debut on the UK roster alongside Norton Rose, Herbert Smith, legacy Denton Wilde Sapte, DLA Piper, Burges Salmon and Addleshaw Goddard.

According to the bank's international advisers, Standard Chartered used the review to push for greater value from law firms across areas such as know-how, secondments and fee discounts.

One adviser commented: "Standard is happy with its global roster of advisers and has not made any changes to the line up over the last five years. We have garnered a steady flow of work from them, but like all the other banks, they are trying to extract more juice from their law firms."

Slaughters is traditionally Standard Chartered's main global adviser, advising on large projects and big-ticket finance transactions.
