Olswang has become the latest City firm to announce its 2011 promotions, with five London lawyers made up to the firm's partnership.

The promotions, which will take effect on 1 May, mark a significant increase on last year's round, when Olswang made up just two, with one in London and one in Berlin. Three of the five new partners are female.

The 2011 promotions are: David Bunker, who focuses on corporate property acquisitions and disposals, limited partnerships, joint ventures and funds; Victoria Gaskell (pictured), who advises on media commercial and regulatory matters; litigator Simone Ketchell, who specialises in contentious commercial property; finance lawyer Ruth Marken and commercial real estate lawyer Mat Speed.

Commenting on the promotions, chief executive David Stewart said: "I'm pleased and proud to announce the addition of these five talented individuals to Olswang's partnership. They have all already made significant contributions to the firm, and I look forward to seeing their enthusiasm and ambition support our growth in the years to come."

Olswang's promotions come after Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) yesterday announced a 13-strong new partner round, marking the firm's largest promotions round since 2006.

The majority of the new partners are based in the firm's City headquarters, which receives nine promotions, while three are based in Moscow and one in Singapore.
