Linklaters has become the latest magic circle firm to announce its partner promotions, with six London lawyers joining the partnership in a global round of 18.

The promotions, which will take effect next month (1 May), come after the firm's annual partners' conference in Paris last week.

The six London promotions include Oliver Edwards in banking, David Phillips in capital markets, Susan Roscoe in litigation and Richard Coar in projects, as well as David Avery-Gee and Aisling Zarraga in mainstream corporate.

Senior partner David Cheyne (pictured) commented: "These promotions highlight our continued commitment of investing in our global practices in order to enhance the breadth and depth of expertise we offer our clients. I would like to congratulate our new partners and counsel on their promotion and wish them the very best in leading the firm to further success."

More than a quarter of the new partners are female (28%), while five have been promoted from the role of counsel. The promotions outside of London include one in the firm's Milan office, one in Bangkok, two in Madrid, four in Frankfurt, two in Hong Kong, one in Singapore and one in Berlin.

The new partners come alongside the promotions of 16 of counsel and one senior consultant, while six salaried partners have been made up to the equity outside of the UK.

Other magic circle promotions so far this year have included Allen & Overy, which is making up 21 new partners, while Freshfields has made up nine and Slaughter and May five.
