Eversheds has made up 22 lawyers in its annual promotions round, including 12 based in the UK.
The firm's London office receives four of the new partners, while Birmingham, Cardiff and Johannesburg receive three each. The remaining promotions are shared across the firm's offices in Newcastle, Munich, Shanghai, Geneva, Berne, Warsaw and Zurich. Almost one third – seven – of the new partners are female.
Broken down by practice area, company commercial gains the most new partners with 10, followed by litigation and dispute resolution with eight.
The total number of promotions is a slight increase on last year, when the firm made up 19 partners with eight based in the UK. However, the figure is still some way off 2009, when 32 lawyers were made up including eight in London and South Africa.
Eversheds chief executive Bryan Hughes said: "The strength of our business reflects the strength of our people and we have some exceptional talent across Eversheds. To make partner, we ask our lawyers to demonstrate leadership, business acumen and excellence in client service alongside high quality legal expertise."
"We welcome all of these lawyers to our partnership because they possess all of these qualities and more."
The news comes after Linklaters yesterday (11 April) announced the details of this year's promotions round, with six London lawyers joining the partnership in a global round of 18.
In contrast, last week Wragge & Co confirmed that it will not make up a single new partner this year and will instead focus on lateral hiring and developing its international offices.
