Linklaters has appointed Barclays Capital managing director and global GC Judith Shepherd to its law and business school advisory board.

Shepherd will be the ninth member of the board, which is made up of business academics, GCs and heads of knowledge and learning from a number of global organisations.

She has been in her role at Barclays Capital since March 2010, prior to which she was GC for global retail and commercial banking at Barclays Bank.

She has also spent time as a corporate finance partner at US outfit Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.

Shepherd said: "I am delighted to be joining the advisory board of the Linklaters law and business school. I firmly believe that strong human capital management is a key component to develop world class legal talent in today's global organisations.

"Accordingly, I am fully committed to assisting the board in achieving its strategic learning and development goals for legal professionals at all levels."

The school was set up in September 2008 to provide ongoing professional development for all people at the firm at every level of their career.

PricewaterhouseCoopers head of brand, communications and experience Moira Elms was also appointed to the board in February last year.

Other members of the board include King's College School of Law professor Jan Dalhuisen, Harvard Law professor of practice Ashish Nanda and HEC Business School deputy dean Bertrand Moingeon.
