Watson Farley & Williams has announced its annual partner promotions, with the firm adding six lawyers to its partnership, including one in the City.

Simon Petch has been made up in the finance group in London, as one of two new finance partners alongside Andrew Nimmo in Singapore.

Meanwhile, Romain Girtanner has become a partner in the Paris tax practice, with Verena Scheibe joining the tax partnership in Hamburg. Elsewhere, Luca Pardi and Philippe Manteau have been promoted in the corporate group in the Rome and New York offices respectively.

The promotions mark an increase on last year when Watson Farley made just two partner promotions – one in Athens and another in Bangkok.

Managing partner Michael Greville said: "Our 2011 promotions are in recognition of lawyers who have achieved in performance and reflect the continuing growth and development of the firm.

"They also reflect the international nature of our firm, with many clients and almost 60% of fee earners outside the UK."

The new promotions will take effect from 1 May, when they will take the total number of partners at Watson Farley to 110.

News of the promotions comes after Watson Farley last month moved to launch a tax practice in Madrid with the hire of partner Luis Soto from Landwell PricewaterhouseCoopers Tax & Legal Services in Spain.
