CMS Cameron McKenna has promoted its general counsel Craig Perry to its junior partner rank as part of an annual promotion round of 16 new partners.

Almost all of the new partners are in the UK, where 14 new partners are split between three offices: London, which gains 12 new partners; and Bristol and Scotland, which gain one apiece. The remaining promotions are in Budapest and Prague.

By practice, the majority of the new office partners (the name given to Camerons' junior partner rank) are in the commercial regulatory and disputes practice, which sees five made up; the energy practice gains four new partners; banking and finance gains three; human capital gains two; and corporate gains one new partner.

The firm announced its promotions with those of its CMS European network, which includes CMS Bureau Francis Lefebvre in France and CMS Hasche Sigle in Germany, where there are 36 new partners in total including Camerons'.

Camerons' 16-strong haul is an increase on last year, when the UK firm made up nine new office partners, of which six were in the UK. The firm operates a three-tier partnership that sees associates moving through office partner, then gateway partner before joining the equity.

Managing partner Duncan Weston said: "Our practice continues to strengthen and the significant number of partner appointments is indicative of client confidence in the CMS offering."

Last year, Legal Week reported that Camerons made up seven office partners to gateway partner, with the first four gateway partners accepted into the equity since the system was introduced three years previously. The firm declined to state how many office partners are moving into the gateway rank in 2011 or whether any partners are joining the equity.
