Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has hired Mayer Brown financial services partner Nick Kynoch in a bid to strengthen its City practice.

Kynoch joined the UK top 20 firm's financial services and markets group last week along with two associates, after 10 years at Mayer Brown.

He has been a partner since 2007, and his client portfolio includes Bank of New York Mellon, Northern Trust, Danske Bank and RBC Dexia.

Kynoch said: "There's a of lot movement in the financial services sector at the moment, with financial services regulatory lawyers in high demand as law firms seek to address the increasing regulatory burden that their clients face.

"I was very impressed with BLP's strategy and the team that they were putting together to further strengthen their offering, and felt that this would be the right home for me to grow my practice further."

Kynoch's move follows a number of hires for BLP in recent months, including litigation and regulation partner Daren Allen, who joined from DLA Piper in January.

Other recent hires include Pinsent Masons regulatory partner Jacob Ghanty and Jones Day City employment litigation head Lisa Mayhew last October.
