Mills & Reeve and Dickinson Dees have announced their 2011 partner promotions, with the pair making up five new partners between them.
National firm Mills & Reeve has made up three new partners, with the firm's professional indemnity insurance practice gaining two new partners across Birmingham and Leeds, with the promotions of David Gooding and Neil Howes respectively. Meanwhile Cambridge gains one new corporate finance partner, Stephen Hamilton. Howes will head the local professional indemnity team.
Meanwhile Newcastle's Dickinson Dees has made up two new partners, with Ben Butler joining the partnership in the Newcastle corporate team and waste and energy specialist Claire Brook becoming a partner in the York office, where she will head the planning team.
Mills & Reeve's promotions take effect from 1 June and bring the total number of partners at the firm to 96. The promotions at Dickinson Dees, which took effect from 1 May, bring its total number of partners to 65.
The promotions mark a slight increase for both firms. In 2010 Mills & Reeve made up two new partners while Dickinson Dees did not make up any new partners.
Dickinson Dees senior partner John Marshall commented: "We are taking a long-term view. It is about making sure we have the right people coming through. We are ambitious and we want to grow our business. These are the key people to help us do that."
Mills & Reeve senior partner Mark Jeffries (pictured) said professional indemnity was the fastest growing part of the business, with 27% revenue growth last year and 16% this year.
He added: "Our corporate lawyers are also starting to see a ripple effect from the increasing activity in the City. There is a lot of opportunity nationally for regional offices to do more of this work. We anticipate growth in that market."
Dickinson Dees has also announced that it will be making eight director promotions in its construction, commercial disputes, pensions, employment, agriculture and corporate practices.
