Travers Smith is to make up five new partners in its annual promotion round, including the firm's first partner to be promoted while working part-time.

Emily Clark will become a partner in the tax practice when the promotions take effect on 1 July and will continue to work a four-day week, as she has for the last nine years.

The remaining promotions see James Renahan and Adrian West becoming partners in the corporate practice, Ben Davis joining the partnership in banking and Phil Bartram becoming a partner in financial services and markets.

The promotions mark a slight increase on last year when four partners were made up.

Travers managing partner, Andrew Lilley (pictured), said: "All our new partners will make a strong contribution to the future success of our business and their promotions reflect their commitment and hard work to date."

Clark said: "When I was having my children the firm let me work on a part-time basis and at the time I thought that partnership wasn't right for me at that stage. However, since then, I decided that I did want to become a partner and Travers has been very supportive in enabling me to do this, whilst still working part-time."
