DLA Piper has added three partners to its restructuring teams in the US and in Spain with a Skadden hire in New York and a 13-strong team in Madrid.

Roca Junyent restructuring partners Javier Diaz-Galvez and Luis Martin joined DLA's Madrid office today (16 May), bringing with them a team of 11 lawyers and economists.

Meanwhile, Skadden Arps Slate Meager & Flom partner Gregg Galardi has also joined DLA as of today, taking up the post as co-chair of the bankruptcy and reorganisation group in the firm's New York office.

Galardi has more than 20 years' experience representing borrowers and debtors in high-profile bankruptcies across multiple jurisdictions.

He served as counsel for CIT Group when it filed for bankruptcy in 2009, which was the fifth-largest bankruptcy of all time and the largest pre-packaged bankruptcy ever.

DLA global corporate and finance chair Roger Meltzer commented: "Gregg's highly regarded work on some of the most complex bankruptcy filings in recent years make him a tremendous asset to the firm and our clients, both here in the US and abroad."
