Legal Week has launched an Asia version of its online database of legal developments, in an expansion of the popular Legal Week Law research tool.
Legal Week Law Asia provides a tailored homepage for the fast-expanding Asian legal market, highlighting relevant briefings and white papers from some of the world's largest law firms. There are already more than 300 Asia-related briefings on the site.
As part of the venture, Legal Week has started identifying Asia briefings from many of the 200-plus law firms with material on the main Legal Week Law site and has also begun sourcing additional content from independent law firms in the Asia-Pacific region. Asian firms to contribute briefings include Japan's Anderson Mori and Mori Hamada, Singapore firm Rajah & Tann and Korea-based firm Lee & Ko.
The site, which is free to access, will be supported by a weekly email for lawyers in Asia, highlighting the most popular briefings.
The move expands on Legal Week Law, which was launched last March and has since built up an audience of more than 12,000 registered users.
More than 100,000 briefings, reports and white papers have been downloaded from the site, with some individual law firms generating more than 1,000 downloads a month. Nearly half of the site's registered users work at companies, either as in-house lawyers or in non-legal roles.
Firms to have provided up-to-date client briefings, research and reports for Legal Week Law include Allen & Overy, Herbert Smith, Latham & Watkins, Eversheds, Travers Smith, Baker & McKenzie, Nabarro, Shoosmiths, Wragge & Co and Hogan Lovells.
The free product allows clients to tailor their search for briefings and legal updates by practice, industry or geography, as well as to search by individual law firm. Site users are also directed to popular and rated briefings and can sign up for RSS feeds on specific topics and follow updates on Twitter.
Popular recent Asia briefings on Legal Week Law include:
* New reforms to promote Hong Kong as a regional centre for international arbitration, Allen & Overy
* Hong Kong IPO guide 2010 – Chinese language version, Herbert Smith
* What is compliance in Indonesia? Baker & McKenzie
* Take a closer look – agency, distribution and franchising in China, Wragge & Co
