Clydesdale Bank has consolidated its national legal panel, with firms including Norton Rose and Hogan Lovells winning spots on the new-look roster.

The firm has named 14 firms on the panel, which also covers legal work for Yorkshire Bank, as both Yorkshire and Clydesdale are UK subsidiaries of parent National Australia Bank (NAB).

The firms appointed are Addleshaw Goddard, Brodies, CMS Cameron McKenna, DLA Piper, Dundas & Wilson, Eversheds, Harper Macleod, Gatelely, Hogan Lovells, Mcclure Naismith, Morton Fraser, Norton Rose, Thomas Eggar, Optima Legal.

Clydesdale Bank head of legal Michael Webber said: "As a matter of course we regularly review our key suppliers, and as a result we have consolidated the number of firms on our national legal panel."

The bank reviews the national panel every three years. It also operates local legal relationships for business banking and residential conveyancing separately from the panel.

The news comes after Clydesdale and Yorkshire owner NAB reviewed its own panel in December, with seven firms winning spots. These were Allen & Overy, Linklaters, Norton Rose, CMS Cameron McKenna, Dundas & Wilson and Baker & McKenzie – alongside one Australian firm, believed to be Mallesons Stephen Jaques.

Through the Clydesdale and Yorkshire subsidiaries, NAB currently operates around 300 branches across the UK.

Firms with strong links to the bank and its subsidiaries in the past included legacy Lovells, DLA Piper and Addleshaws – as well as legacy Hammonds, which has not been named on the new national panel.
